Door-to-door solicitation isn't going away. For a lot of legitimate businesses and organizations - solar installers, security companies, local nonprofits, school fundraisers - knocking on doors is still one of the most effective ways to reach people. But for homeowners, there's never been a clean, simple way to say “not interested” before the knock happens. You either deal with it door by door, or you don't deal with it at all.
We kept asking ourselves: phones have a Do Not Call Registry. Email has spam filters and unsubscribe links. Why doesn't your front door have anything?
So we built NoKnock.
How it works, in plain terms
Homeowners register for free and get a unique QR code for their door - printable instantly, or available as a professional weatherproof decal mailed to your home. It's a clear, visible signal - no confrontation required. Anyone standing at the door can scan it with the camera they already have: no app to install, no account, and nothing to sign up for. Most read the decal and move on without scanning at all, which is the point.
Scanned or tapped, that QR code opens the same simple public page every time: a clear “Do Not Knock” for that address, and the door-to-door soliciting rules for your state. There is one answer, not a set of them - nothing to configure, and nothing that returns “go ahead” to anybody.
