Why do you call it "Do Not Disturb for your front door"?
Because it's the closest thing most people already own. Every other way of reaching you has a mute switch - your phone, your inbox, your text messages. Your front door never got one, so anyone who walks up can ring the bell. Registering your address and putting the decal up is how you set it. And like Do Not Disturb, it works by being visible and easy to respect rather than by forcing anyone: most solicitors read it and move on, and anyone who scans the code gets your state's soliciting rules alongside it.
I already have a "No Soliciting" sign - how is this different?
Think of it less as a sign and more as a setting. The decal does the same job a good sign does - most solicitors read it and move on - and that part works whether anyone scans it or not. What a plain sign can't do is answer for itself. Scan the QR code and you get a full-screen "Do Not Knock" naming the address, plus the door-to-door soliciting rules for that state, which is harder to wave off than a small plaque someone can claim they didn't see. You also get a timestamped record each time your home is scanned.
I have a video doorbell. Do I need this too?
They do different jobs, and they work well together. A camera tells you someone came to the door - after they're already standing there. The decal is aimed at the knock not happening in the first place. A camera is a good record of who ignored it; the decal is what stops most people needing to be recorded.
Is NoKnock legally enforceable?
NoKnock itself isn't a law, and nobody is required to check it - it works the way Do Not Disturb does, by making your answer visible before anyone reaches the bell. Where it does carry legal weight is local: enforceability depends on your ordinances, many of which already restrict solicitation at residences that have posted a no-soliciting notice, and NoKnock makes that notice visible, verifiable, and easy to check.
How much does it cost for homeowners?
Registering your address is completely free - and you can print your own "Do Not Knock" decal at home at no cost. A professional weatherproof decal mailed to your home is available as an optional paid upgrade. Both are 4" x 6" - about the size of a postcard - so the free printout and the mailed one are the same object. Either way, you can pick from eight styles on your dashboard - four colourways, each with or without the bold bar - and every one says “NO SOLICITING”, at no extra charge.
Can I earn a free weatherproof decal?
Yes - by inviting neighbors. Your dashboard has a personal invite link, and when 3 neighbors in your area register through it and each stays registered for 14 days, we mail you a weatherproof decal free. Your dashboard shows a row of four houses - yours and three invites - that light up as neighbors join, and a set of badges you earn along the way - some for neighbors you bring in, some for your block filling in around you - which you can share as a card if you like, though nothing is posted unless you choose to. One free decal per account, we review each reward before it ships, and you only ever see counts - never which neighbors joined. Buying a decal in the meantime doesn't affect the free one.
I live in an apartment or condo - can I register my unit?
Yes. There's an Apt / Unit field when you register or edit an address, and if you pick your address from the suggestions and Google knows your unit, it fills in automatically. Two households in the same building can each register their own unit. Your unit also rides along on the shipping label, so a weatherproof decal ordered for "1725 Main St, Apt 3" actually arrives at Apt 3. If you registered before the field existed, edit the address from your dashboard and add it.
I don't want to stick anything to my door or window. Any other options?
Plenty, and none of them touch the house. The decal is a standard 4" x 6", so any photo frame, sleeve or acrylic sign holder that size fits it - a couple of dollars anywhere, or one you already own - and you can hang that from the hook you already use for a wreath. Stand it in the window beside your door facing out, propped on the sill - no adhesive at all, and it stays out of the weather. Or put it on something already there: an existing "No Soliciting" plaque, a porch post, a planter by the step. All that matters is that it sits as near the doorbell as the option allows, level with the button, so it's read before anyone reaches the bell. Print the free version and try a spot before you commit the vinyl - the QR code is identical either way. And if you do stick the mailed one up, it's removable, no-residue vinyl, so it lifts off cleanly whenever you want it gone.
Will my HOA let me put this up?
Usually not an issue, though your association's rules are the final word. Most HOA signage restrictions are written about yard signs and window signs visible from the street - a decal on your own front door or storm door is a different thing, and typically isn't what those rules are aimed at. If you're unsure, your CC&Rs are worth a skim before you order the weatherproof version. The printable decal is free either way, so there's no cost to trying it first. What happens when someone scans my QR code?
Any phone camera works - there's no app to install and nothing to sign into. They see that the address is marked Do Not Knock, the soliciting rules for your state, and your street and city with most of your house number blocked out: enough to confirm the decal belongs to that door, not enough to pinpoint the house from a photo. No name, no email, no phone number. Blurring the code before posting a photo of your decal online is still worth doing.
What do you do with my address once I register it?
We use it to do the job you registered for, and that's the whole list: generate the QR code for your door, show the masked address and your state's rules to anyone who scans it, print a shipping label if you order a weatherproof decal, and count registered homes in your ZIP so you can see your block filling in. We don't sell or rent your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising. Your name, email and phone number are never shown to anyone who scans, and your house number is masked on our own servers rather than hidden in the page. You can remove an address, or delete your account entirely, whenever you like - and the full detail, including every vendor that touches it, is in our Privacy Policy.
Is there a NoKnock app?
No, and there isn't one coming - noknock.co does everything in a phone browser. You can register an address, print or order a decal, and see when your home was scanned without installing anything. There were NoKnock apps for a while and they've since been discontinued. If you still have one on your phone, use the website instead: it's the same account and the same registered addresses, and nothing was lost. The one thing the app did that the site doesn't is send a notification when your decal was scanned - your scan history lives on your dashboard instead, on the card for each address.
What if someone ignores it and knocks anyway?
Some will - no sign, registry or decal stops everyone, and we’d rather say that plainly than promise otherwise. What the decal changes is the odds: most people read it and skip the house, which is the whole point. If someone knocks anyway, the useful next step is usually local, not us - many municipalities require a solicitor’s permit and restrict hours, and a call to your city or county with a company name gets further than anything we could send. Can I have multiple addresses registered under one account?
Yes - if you own more than one property, you can register and manage all of them from a single NoKnock account.
Can two people in the same home each have their own login?
Yes. Whoever registered the address can add up to four other people from the dashboard - enter their email and they get a link to accept, good for 14 days. They can sign in however they like when they open it; it doesn't have to match the address you sent it to. Everyone in the household sees the same address, the same QR code and the same scan history, and can print or order a decal. Editing the street address and deleting the registration stay with the person who registered it.
Can I remove my address from the registry later?
Yes, you can deactivate or remove any registered address at any time from your dashboard.
